Stuttgart, 11 February 2019. REACH NOW has a customer base of 6.5 million people as of 31 January 2019, reflecting a growth rate of 69 percent in the last 12 months. Apps such as “Mobil in Düsseldorf” underline the innovative strength of the tech company. In the USA, moovel cooperates with 18 transportation companies, underscoring its market leadership in the field of mobile ticketing solutions for local transportation companies.
REACH NOW is present with its mobility apps in German cities such as Hamburg, Stuttgart and Karlsruhe. Most recently, REACH NOW and the Rheinbahn jointly launched the app “Mobil in Düsseldorf”. The app offers the opportunity to search for and compare different means of transport and to book the appropriate driving licence directly. Available rental bikes from the regional bikesharing provider Nextbike and vehicles from the carsharing provider car2go are accessible via the app. In addition, offers from the car sharing provider Stadtmobil and mytaxi were recently integrated. If the users decide in favour of bus or train, they can buy the ticket in the app with just a few clicks and immediately have the digital ticket on their smartphone. In North America, moovel N.A. is the leading provider of mobile ticketing applications for public transportation operators and works with 18 transportation companies. Every 1.1 seconds, a transaction takes place via REACH NOW applications, i.e. a public transport ticket is purchased or a trip is booked with a car2go.
“We are of course very pleased that 6.5 million people are enthusiastic about our REACH NOW products,” says REACH NOW CEO Daniela Gerd tom Markotten. “With our Mobility-as-a-Service platform, we support cities and transport associations in making mobility more accessible and improving the quality of life in cities.”
The Daimler subsidiary is one of the Mobility as a Service pioneers. The term Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) stands for the bundling of different types of passenger transport, such as bus and train, car sharing, bike sharing and taxi, into a multimodal transport solution – including booking and payment by app via an integrated customer account. This merges means of passenger transport with the Sharing Economy to create a seamless, flexible service. REACH NOW already introduced such a MaaS platform with integrated booking and payment in 2015.
REACG NOW on-demand ridesharing an integral part of public transport
App-based group trips are a perfect way to get more people to use public transport and make it more efficient. Thus on-demand ridesharing is an important element of a MaaS platform. REACH NOW offers local public transport providers the software to operate an on-demand ridesharing service – this allows public transport to be expanded into an even more attractive overall service. Since June 2018, the REACH NOW on-demand solution has been in use in Stuttgart in cooperation with Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG under the name SSB Flex and since October 2018 in downtown Los Angeles as “FlexLA”.

REACH NOW, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler AG, wants to simplify mobility in cities and improve the quality of life. With its Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform, moovel offers cities and transport companies a toolbox with which they can integrate various mobility providers. The MaaS platform can also be used to optimize the traffic flow in the city. REACH NOW calls this the “operating system for urban mobility”. Here, public transport tickets can be booked and paid for, as well as other mobility options such as car sharing, ridehailing or rental bikes. moovel on-demand is the moovel Group’s on-demand ridesharing service, which has been piloted in Stuttgart since June 2018 in cooperation with Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG and in downtown Los Angeles since November 2018. moovel N. A. LLC, part of the moovel Group GmbH, offers access to seamless, cross-modal offerings and networked transportation services via mobile apps. moovel is the leading provider of mobile ticketing applications in North America that allow passengers to book and pay for their tickets with their smartphone.
